It's been a few years, but I'm back in beautiful Morocco - and this time I'm starting my trip in Fes (Fez). I decided to begin my journey in Fes for several reasons...
- Last time I was in Morocco, the locals of Marrakech told me to visit there
- The flights were very cheap, I guess it's not as much of a tourist go-to as Marrakech
Why visit Fes? Or as it's spelt in some guidebooks, Fez. Well... Fes is the third largest city in Morocco, with a population of around 1 million people. Fes was actually the capital of Morocco right up until 1925. The city has two old medinas, the largest of which is called Fes el Bali and is listed as a World Heritage Site.
Travel Tips: Visit the Jewish Synagogue, Ibn Danan Synagogue, you can go on the rooftop and get some amazing panoramic views of the City.
If this is your first time to Morocco, book a tour guide for the first day at least, the streets are all very windy and I should imagine could feel a little claustrophobic if you're not used to it.
We spent 3 nights in Fes, and used one of the days to take a day trip to Chefchaouen.
Next stop... Casablanca.
