Hotel Anel, Sofia - Review

The 5* Hotel Anel in Sofia is located in the Centre of the CIty - just a short walk from the Natsionalna Khudozhestvena Galeriya art museum and 2km from Central Railway Station Sofia.

All of the rooms and suites come with free Wifi, TVs, coffee making facilities and mini bars - and room service is available 24/7. The mini bar is actually really good value, you can have a small bottle of wine for around £4-5, or a soft drink for around £1/£1.50.

I really felt at home in this suite, everything had been thought of - the slippers, dressing gown, and coffee making facilities were all to a great standard. There was also a large safe which was big enough to fit a small laptop in or several iPads.

I stayed in one of the hotel's penthouse suites. The bed was enormous, it was actually 2 double beds adjoined. I also had a living area, with dining table, sofa and a smart TV.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and spoke perfect English - which was very useful as I struggled to grasp the local language.

The hotels restaurant offers dining on a rooftop terrace with city views, and the bar is open 24 hours. There is also a spa, indoor pool and hot tub as well as a gym. With the food in Sofia being so delicious, I made good use of the gym facilities - I had the gym to myself, so I presume the spa and pool are more popular with guests.

The breakfast options are vast, fresh and tasty! You could have anything from a cooked breakfast, to cold meats, cereals, cheeses, pastries etc. I went to breakfast at 7am some days, and 10am on others and everything was always fully stocked.

The bathroom was very well stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body moisturiser, as well as nice touches such as cotton buds, face moisturiser and a nail file.

Top tip: the hotel can organise a private transfer to/from the airport for just 10 euros, or 6 euro per person if more than 2 of you. Alternatively, if you're driving to the hotel there is complimentary secured parking available.

After my short stay at Hotel Anel I feel very relaxed, I'll definitely be back next time I visit Bulgaria.
